Gospel Principles Comments and Resources

Gospel Principles Comments and Resources

http://scottsworld.info/gpc.htm Gospel Principles Comments and Resources index page

This is a relatively new addition to my site, I have been getting a lot of requests from teachers of gospel principles/ gospel essentials classes for the comments and resources I use to teach my weekly Gospel Principles list. Some times I think half the list is other teachers.. You would think so by the few posts on the discussion list.  So I started putting up resources on my website.  First I put the text files up as zip files.
Download the Gospel Principles Weekly introduction commentary text files (zipped) Updated 3-22-08
Download the Gospel Principles Weekly Gospel Essentials Class text files (zipped) Updated 3-22-08   These are the files I used when I was a gospel Essentials teacher in the Alhambra ward.  You can learn more about the list by reading the Gospel Principles List FAQ.

These are the html version of Comments and Resources files I start each week's gospel principles lesson with that I have finished so far. I will put the rest up as I complete each unit. I have just completed Unit 7 Perfecting Our Lives and have the first lesson of Unit 8 Family Salvation which was the lesson on my Gospel Principles list last week.  If you are on my gospel principles list you then know I have been posting them in HTML for the last year or so.  I had started  last year by adding the links for the scriptures from http://scriptures.lds.org/en/ to lessons but had not figured out how to save them that way. This time through I have been updating them and saving each lesson to html as I prepare each one to send to the list so I won't have to do it again in the future.  There are 47 chapters in the Gospel Principles manual and between 5-7 concepts per chapter so it is taking me a while to do it.  This is one of those do a little each day projects, not do it all at once.  Line upon line, precept by precept, day by day is how we should live and learn each day.
Each week I take a chapter from the manual, start with a comments and Resources post I have created mostly from my missionary manuals which used the Gospel Principles manual and scriptures as the core of our study curriculum.
As a missionary I studied for an hour every morning before we went out proselytizing. It was always amazing to me that when I stuck to the schedule for that week (it wasn't always easy, we read the all 4 standard works in a year) that sometime during the week I would be able to answer a question easily that if I had not been up on my studies I would probably would had problems answering.  By the time I went home I could have taught a lesson or given a talk on any basic gospel topic off the top of my head for the first few years.   I'm not that good any more, I hardly have time to spend an hour a week studying the gospel any more.  I have trouble reading one book of scripture in a year much less all 4 of them..

Speaking of missionary resources I also put up COME NOW, AND LET US REASON TOGETHER (some time last late last year) which was a small 3 page list of scriptures someone gave me as a missionary that I have found very use full. I have carried it in my bible between Revelations and the Topical guide since I was a missionary.
