Apostasy and Restoration

I was searching for something last night and searched for the term "apostasy" and came up with a lot of hits I checked a few of the more interesting pages that weren't definitions of the word.  It seems there are a lot of people who think the "christian church" is at least in some places going though an apostasy.

The CARM page Apostasy in the Christian Church Says we should be looking for the apostasy to occur before the second coming, I agree with that so far. He has a list of what he considers importing features in the Christian Church. Under "Secondary Non-Essentials" he lists baptism!!! Christ was baptised and since we are to follow his example I would have to say baptism is an essential to have in a true Christian church. On another page of CARM (Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry) called "What Kind of Christian are You?" they say being "born again' is an important part of being a Christian, isn't being baptised part of being born again?? There are a lot of other things they wrote I disagree with but that was one I just HAD to comment on.

Latter Rain - Apostasy  says "The apostasy has been progressive over time throughout history. It started in the first century and just got worse.
Paul knew that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. The Eastern and Western churches were part of this, In the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats.
The Protestant church was part of this as well in that they became legalistic, oppressive and exclusive, leading to spiritual pride, denominational bias and self-righteousness. But since then, things have gotten better, only again to get worse as we near the last of the last days and Satan puts us to the test. Some things get better, some get worse.
"

I would agree there was an apostasy and is still on going in most places  the apostasy began when Christ left the left the apostles in charge of the church and they were eventually killed. Since the Eastern and Western Churches were part of the apostasy and the Protestant churches as well then how can they become non apostate?  The very name "Protestant" churches came about because they came from groups protesting the Roman Catholic Church's practices.

One LDS page I found The Christian Apostasy on The Cumorah Project gives a very good over view of the apostasy and references.

Of course you should see my page Which is the True Church? I cover the apostasy though bible scriptures and point out that before Christ's second coming his church must be restored to prepare the world for his second coming.
