Under “Cybersecurity”, Congress Will Be the Internet’s Greatest Threat!

By Brad O’Leary

Gird your blogs, because if liberals in Congress get their way,
President Obama will have sole discretionary authority to shut down
the Internet or critical parts of the Internet should he feel his
presidency is being tested. Worse, under the guise of cybersecurity,
Obama will essentially be granted the power to destroy free speech on
the web.

On April 1st of this year, Senators Rockefeller, Snowe, Bayh and
Nelson introduced bills S. 773 and S.778, collectively called the
Cybersecurity Act, which would give President Obama dictatorial power
over the Internet during a time of national crisis or emergency.

All of the bills’ sponsors voted for the Bipartisan Campaign Reform
Act of 2002 that prohibited organizations and individuals from running
advocacy ads against candidates 60 days in advance of a general
election. Now it seems these same people have conjured up a gag order
for the Internet.

According to the current drafts, under the Cyber Security Act of 2009
the President may “declare a cybersecurity emergency and order the
limitation or shut down of Internet traffic to and from any comprised
federal government or United States critical infrastructure
information system or network”. He may also “order the disconnection
of any Federal Government or United States critical infrastructure
information systems or networks in the interest of national security.”

What constitutes “cybersecurity emergency” or “critical infrastructure
information system or network” is left completely up to the President
to define. We know that the Administration, according to Rahm Emanuel,
never wants “a serious crisis to go to waste”. We also know the
Administration supports the regulation of free speech on the Internet.

President Obama’s choice to lead the powerful Office of Information
and Regulatory Affairs is none other than Cass Sunstein, a radical
Harvard law professor and supporter of the Fairness Doctrine for the
Internet. According to Sunstein, “A system of limitless individual
choices, with respect to communications, is not necessarily in the
interest of citizenship and self-government.”

Obama campaign fundraiser and FCC Chair nominee, Julius Genachowski,
is a supporter of “Net neutrality”, the first step in applying the
Fairness Doctrine to the Internet.

“Net neutrality” proponents like Genachowski would have government
decide what content Internet operators and network owners must
provide. Incredibly, they claim this is to keep the Internet free and
open to all, when in reality, their goal is to usher the heavy hands
of federal regulators into the tent.

Stifling any venue where ideology competes with left-wing mainstream
media has always been a goal of the left and Obama. Obama has just
been more evasive in his means by supporting policies such as “net
neutrality” and wobbling on the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine
to talk radio. Liberal members of Congress are now set on sending
America on an unconstitutional b-line away from Uncle Sam and directly
to Big Brother.

The Cybersecurity Act is also includes a provision where “The
Department of Commerce shall serve as the clearinghouse of
cybersecuirty threat and vulnerability information to the Federal
Government and private sector owned (emphasis mine) critical
infrastructure information systems and networks.” Shelving all privacy
laws including the requirement for warrants, the Secretary of Commerce
“shall have access to all relevant data concerning such networks
without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule or policy
restricting such access.” Senator Rockefeller made it clear in his
statement what “relevant data” this act could include when he stated
“We must protect our critical infrastructure at all costs from our
water to our electricity, to banking, traffic lights and electronic
health records the list goes on.”

While we have worried about cyber attacks from Russia and China, who
would have thought the greatest threat would come from members of our
own Congress.

Shut Up, America!
The End of Free Speech

By Brad O’Leary

In Shut Up, America! The End of Free Speech, Brad O’Leary shines light
on a dark mission of the left, shutting down conservative voices
and, in the process, eviscerating the First Amendment.

Brad O’Leary exposes the agenda and the strategy behind the plan —
how Congress and the president will rationalize the changes using the
language of “diversity” and “fairness” and “tolerance.” He also
addresses how the impending legislation and regulations will doubly
impact Christian talk radio — and eventually every other form of
communication in America.

“If you want to see the blueprint for the plot to silence talk radio,
this is it,” says Joseph Farah, founder of WorldNetDaily and WND
Books. “How important is this? If you want to see the people in charge in Washington remain there perpetually, ignore this threat. The plot to end free speech and the free press in America is the ultimate incumbent protection plan.”

Stop the Push to Silence Free Speech

I have just taken action to stop the attacks on our Free Speech
Rights, and I’m asking that you join with me by clicking here:

+ + Will The Fairness Doctrine Silence The Conservative Voice?

Will 2009 usher in a fanatical push to re-instate the so-called
Fairness Doctrine? Such a move would effectively silence the
conservative voice and remove the last conservative stronghold
against a fast-moving liberal agenda.

Scott, One need only read the words of Dianne
Feinstein to see the true threat to conservative speech that is
brewing on the horizon!

“Talk radio tends to be one-sided. It also tends to
be dwelling in hyperbole. It’s explosive. It pushes
people to, I think, extreme views without a lot of
information … I’m looking at the [Fairness Doctrine]…
Unfortunately, talk radio is overwhelmingly one way.”

Recognizing this threat, the Media Research Center has created
the Free Speech Alliance which is a coalition of organizations
and citizens strongly opposed to any such move to limit or
undermine our Free Speech Rights!

Please take a moment right now to join the hundreds of
thousands of Americans who oppose the Fairness Doctrine and
all that it stands for by clicking here:

Thanks for joining with me.

P.S. If the liberal voice in America has their way, the Fairness
Doctrine will end conservative talk–including Rush, Sean,
Laura, Mark, and a host of others. Take action today by clicking

Spitting Out the Gag

David Martin, Executive Vice President
Media Research Center

Every day when we read the news, we are reminded of what we
conservatives are up against…

an emboldened media not the least bit interested in
reporting the truth, but rather poised to push their
slanted liberal views and radical agendas further
down the throats of the American people.

a liberal leadership in Congress eager to
sweep conservative ideology to the far corners of
Capitol Hill.

The liberal agenda cannot succeed if scrutinized by conservative talk
radio–and they know that. That’s why we believe there is every
intention of reinstating the Fairness Doctrine, better known as
the “Censorship Doctrine”… and gagging conservative talk.

Of course the liberal mouthpieces are saying otherwise–and
frankly we would expect nothing less. They don’t want you or
me or anyone else in America to be on-guard when this
“Censorship Doctrine” re-appears.

Because the only way for liberals to truly succeed is if we do
nothing–falling on our swords and refusing to fight.

    • Now is the time to stand up and be ready to rumble!

We are ready, Scott, and going into the Christmas Season
we want to send a message that says as much and more… But we
need your help.

++ 50,000 Petitions Needed By December 31

Since launching the Free Speech Alliance and petition to stop the
Fairness Doctrine, more than 34 organizations have joined the
coalition to protect our Free Speech Rights.

In fact, we’ve added 12 organizations since our last
update just two weeks ago!

Momentum is building, but we want to make certain it continues to
build throughout the Christmas holidays, so we’re turning to our
fearless MRC Action team and specifically you, Scott,
to make that happen.

Please forward this message to 30-35 friends, and explain
what will happen if we don’t fight to preserve our freedom.
Let them know what will happen if our conservative speech
is indeed gagged, and encourage them to stand with us by
clicking here:

With your commitment over these next several weeks, we’re hopeful
that we will rally and mobilize an additional 50,000 citizens who
are “on-guard” against the reinstatement of the “Censorship Doctrine”.

Help me send a message to the liberal media and liberal leaders in
Congress that we will not be silenced!

As always, thank you for standing with the Media Research Center.

David Martin

P.S: Help us send a message to the liberal media that we won’t be
silenced. Please forward this message to 30-35 friends today.
