Platform Comfirms Dems Still ‘Don’t Get it’ About Gun Rights, Says CCRKBA

NEWS RELEASE

PLATFORM CONFIRMS DEMS STILL DON T GET IT ABOUT GUN RIGHTS, SAYS CCRKBA

BELLEVUE, WA The 2008 Democratic Party’s draft platform confirms that the party still doesn’t get it about Second Amendment gun rights versus the Utopian fantasy that gun control laws will somehow make neighborhoods safer, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

While promising to preserve our Second Amendment rights, said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, the party platform demonizes semiautomatic sport utility rifles and wants them banned, calls for anti-gun show legislation and proposes so-called common-sense gun laws. Many Democrats believe bans on most guns are common sense and they still support the handgun ban in Barack Obama’s hometown of Chicago. Boiled down, all it really means is that the Democrats are still the party of gun control no matter how they try to re-package the rhetoric, and they know it.

Gottlieb, co-author of a new book called These Dogs Don’t Hunt: The Democrats War on Guns, said the party is shamelessly telling American gun owners that they embrace the rights of millions of shooters, hunters and gun collectors, but there’s a caveat.

The party’s gun control platform plank puts the lie to everything they say, he added. As Democrats descend on Denver to nominate a candidate who is on record in opposition to sensible concealed carry laws, we encourage gun owners across the country, and especially in Colorado, to remind the party that the Supreme Court in June held that gun bans are unconstitutional. Yet here they are, calling for a ban on so-called assault weapons even after years of experience tells us that Bill Clinton’s ban accomplished nothing, and cost the party control of Congress in 1994.

Democrats want to regulate gun shows out of business, he continued, even after a study done for the Justice Department found that gun shows are rarely the source of firearms used by criminals. Gun shows provide a forum, a gathering place for law-abiding gun owners to discuss ideas and issues, and share constitutionally protected freedoms of speech, assembly and the right to keep and bear arms. Increasingly, Democrats seem averse to the exercise of these rights by anyone who does not share their philosophy. And this is the party of inclusion?

Democrats have an opportunity to reject and repudiate this platform, Gottlieb concluded. If they do not, that tells American gun owners everything they need to know about Democrats as November approaches.

ANWR – the real story

You may have seen this, I’ve had at least three people email it to me. But everyone needs to see it so rather than email it to everyone I know I posted it to my blog so you all can see it.

FIRST —  do you know what ANWR is?

ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Now — A comparison

And some perspective?

Drill HERE!

NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS?

(it’s in the ANWR Coastal Plain)

Proposed area in ANWR

THIS IS WHAT THE DEMOCRATS, LIBERALS AND GREENS SHOW YOU WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT ANWR

–and they are right– these ARE photographs of ANWR

Mountains

ANWR Valley

ANWR coastal cove

ISN’T ANWR BEAUTIFUL?? WHY SHOULD WE DRILL HERE (AND DESTROY) THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE?

WELL… THAT’S NOT EXACTLY THE TRUTH

Do you remember the map?

The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain

Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?

WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?

THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE

THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY ARE WANTING TO DRILL!

THIS IS WHAT THE PROPOSED EXPLORATION AREA ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE WINTER

ANWR Winter

AND THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER

ANWR HelilocopterANWR plains

view from plane

HERE ARE A COUPLE SCREEN SHOTS FROM GOOGLE EARTH

Google Earth shot 1

Google Earth shot 2

AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DRILLING IS A BARREN WASTELAND.

OH AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE EFFECT ON THE LOCAL WILDLIFE?

HERE IS A PHOTO (SHOT DURING THE SUMMER) OF THE DEPLETED WILDLIFE? SITUATION CREATED BY DRILLING AROUND PRUDHOE BAY *
DON?T YOU THINK THAT THE CARIBOU REALLY HATE THAT DRILLING?

Caribou grazing

HERE’S THAT SAME SPOT DURING THE WINTER.

same shot winter

HEY, THIS BEAR SEEMS TO REALLY “HATE”THE PIPELINE NEAR PRUDHOE BAY *?

Bear on pipe

*The Prudhoe bay area accounts for 17% of? U.S. domestic oil production

NOW, WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE DEMOCRATS/LIBERALS and ENVIRONMENTAL WHACKOS ARE LYING ABOUT ANWR?

REMEMBER WHEN AL GORE SAID THAT
THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE GAS PRICES
TO $5.00 A GALLON?

WELL?

AL GORE AND HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS HAVE ALMOST REACHED THEIR GOAL!

NOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN LYING,
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

YOU CAN START BY FORWARDING THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW?
SO THAT THEY WILL KNOW THE TRUTH.  AND REMEMBER TO VOTE  THIS NOVEMBER FOR THOSE WHO WILL GIVE US THE RIGHT TO DRILL FOR OUR OWN OIL AND NO LONGER LIE TO US SO THAT WE HAVE TO SPEND 7 OR 10 DOLLARS A GALLON IN THE FUTURE OR SUFFER A DEFEAT IF A FUTURE ATTACK STOPS US FROM GETTING  FOREIGN OIL! HELP AMERICA BECOME INDEPENDENT AGAIN!

driving Economy

Energy Independence and other issues.

The reason you are paying over $4 a gallon for gas and our other energy costs are going through the roof is Congress! It isn’t George Bush’s fault, it is no coincidence that since the liberal Democrats took over both the House and Senate that our gas prices have almost doubled since. Also our economy has been going down because they have been down taking it down since Bush was elected president and they accused him of talking down the economy when he pointed out the problems cause by 8 years of the Clintons and the largest tax increase in history they brought us when he was running for office.
If you think the economy is bad now elect Obama and see what happens.. From what I hear from him “change” is to raise the taxes on everything! If you are barely getting by now wait until he raises taxes on energy, income, social security, medicare and then passes socialized medical care. It will totally collapse our economy. The reason medical care is so expensive is government has mandated hospitals give treatment to everyone who can’t or don’t want to pay for it, including millions of illegals which has about bankrupted the emergency rooms here in Arizona and forced the closing of a couple of them. They mandate what doctors will get for medicare which isn’t enough. This forces doctors and hospitals to pass on these unmet expenses to us in order to stay in business. My 90 year old grand parents just had to be moved out of the long term hospital care because the hospital wasn’t getting enough from medicare to keep the unit open and was loosing millions of dollars a year. There isn’t ONE damn thing the federal government does right or well and you want to put them in charge of your medical care??? Look what they have done with social insecurity and medicare! There isn’t anything the government can give you that they didn’t take away from you or someone else in the first place and the vast majority of people get back far less than is taken from them. There isn’t the constitutional authority to do most of what they are doing in the first place and the things they should be doing like protecting our boarders they are not doing.
The only people who pay taxes are the end consumer of the product or service that is taxed. If you raise the taxes on the “evil oil companies” they have to pass on the increased cost of business to the people who buy their products. If they didn’t they would eventually go out of business. You can not sell products for what they cost to make or less and make a profit that keeps your business operating. If you have a 401K or other retirement or investing plan you own a portion of oil and other business, if the business in your portfolio aren’t making a profit, neither are you on your investments. Anything government does to affect their profits affects YOU! If you think you are under taxed you are an idiot.

Back to energy, this is what I started to write about (I could rant about the problems with our government all day..) This is an excerpt from Glenn Beck’s website that was in his email news letter tonight. Glenn is about the only one on TV (CNN afternoons) that is telling it like it is. I don’t care for his radio show much but you HAVE TO WATCH HIS TV SHOW!! Thank God for PVR’s (hard drive based VCR with out the Video tape, I do have full time 48+ hour job) He is talking to Representative Chris Cannon from Utah’s 3rd congressional district.

=======================================================

Glenn Beck: Oil shale the answer?

http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/196/11464/

“GLENN: All right. So what is the — your bill takes all of the burden out of congress and puts it on the President’s desk?

CONGRESSMAN CANNON: Well, yeah. He is the executive and what it does is it gives him the ability to cut through seven years and make that seven weeks and so you sit down and you say, what do we need to do to protect the environment and what’s the process we’re going to use. And there are various processes that are very different and they are going to have different constraints. But then you give the President the authority to come to a conclusion and give a permit in a short time and then you monitor, see what’s going on. You may have to adjust that permit over time but at least you get people producing oil.
” ” “..

GLENN: Yet the will in congress is not. I’ve got a guy here who’s been waiting for a while to talk on the air and I’m going to put him on the air. His question is don’t you think that congress is intentionally trying to sabotage our economy for the election. Give me a reason here, Chris, why congress is doing the things that they’re doing. Why are they doing this? This is not in our economic long-term health by any stretch of the imagination to keep us shackled to terror states.

CONGRESSMAN CANNON: Yes, Saudi Arabia funding Al-Qaeda, Iran funding Hezbollah, Hamas. Human events had an article two weeks ago about an Iranian funded terrorist camp in the Venezuela. You know, we’re paying these people to undermine our interests and we’re propping up a —

GLENN: So what is stopping the congress? What is the motivation of congress to not free our hands?

CONGRESSMAN CANNON: Well, if you look at the numbers, they’re fascinating. The bulk of Republicans will vote to drill in ANWR, to drill in the continent she will, to drill in the Midwest to drill for shale. About 90%, in some cases a little more, a little less of Democrats vote against that and with the reps cans who vote against this and the Democrats who vote against this, we’ve not been able to get those things passed. We passed the right — there’s a prohibition against drilling in the Alaskan national wildlife preserve but we have to overcome what’s positive law. We passed that in the House a couple of times and the Senate actually passed it as well but the times we passed it in the House and the Senate didn’t pass it, then we had problems with a potential candidate being the critical vote there. So we have to get — the American people have got to express themselves on this issue and we’re about to put up a website called dollargas.us. I think it’s up yet but we want the American people to be saying we want a dollar, a dollar and a quarter gas. That’s where it ought to be. And if we were producing our own gas, our own oil out of our own resource here in America, one, we would have cheaper gas. And two, we wouldn’t be funding our enemies.

GLENN: Chris Cannon from the great state of Utah. Thank you very much. We’ll look at the bill. What is the bill number?

CONGRESSMAN CANNON: Oh, it’s — I think it’s 6811, but I apologize.”

Dangerous gun control bill in US Senate

HR 2640 is the most dangerous far-reaching assault on your Second Amendment Rights since the Democrats gained control of Congress!

Congress is authorizing $750 million to make a substantial expansion to the instant background check database — the very system that is violating our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. This new money will be used to collect and store your personal information including your medical records.

HR 2640 will allow shrinks (psychologists and psychiatrists) and bureaucrats to decide who can own and possess firearms. Currently under the National Instant Check System (NICS) a person becomes a prohibited person, regarding firearms possession, when that person is “adjudicated a mental defective,” “by a Court.” HR 2640 removes your due process rights, and greatly expands the definition of a “prohibited person” to anyone who, in the opinion of any shrink or government bureaucrat, could possibly be a danger to oneself or another. For example, under HR 2640 you won’t be able to call witnesses on your behalf; in fact, there won’t even be a hearing.

Many of our great service men and women would be prohibited from owning firearms, if, when returning from serving our country, they are labeled “dangerous” because of a visit to doctor for stress. We all know that our great service men and women see and experience situations that may continue to give them nightmares. Are these events good reasons to permanently ban firearms ownership for these individuals? They just finished serving our country and now they may be barred from even owning the firearms they used to defend this great nation. This was tried by the Clinton administration; the names of 83,000 veterans were sent to NICS to become prohibited persons. Under HR 2640 these 83,000 veterans would be banned as well as thousands more.

HR 2640 also expands the list of “prohibited persons” by allowing shrinks to decide who is a “danger”. We already know that many “professionals” in the psychiatric field believe that a firearm in the hands of any American is dangerous and therefore no person should have them. You can imagine the utter chaos this legislation will create!

Any medical “professional” could also make a similar determination. We already know that many pediatricians believe that any household with firearms is “dangerous,” even if they are properly stored. Senior citizens who have trouble balancing their checkbooks could become prohibited persons under a finding of “disability” or “incapacity.

Closet anti-gun politicians love legislation such as this. So far, politicians have hidden behind voice votes on this bill. HR 2640 is a Trojan horse. It sounds justified on the outside with promises of keeping mental defectives from having firearms, but a closer look at the details reveals a huge expansion in those who will become a prohibited person; an expansion that could potentially include most Americans.

Washington insiders think gun owners will be fooled by their veiled attempts to ban firearm ownership. They’ll go to great lengths to silence the grassroots, and to absolve themselves of responsibility if it does pass (and becomes yet another tool to the gun banners).

Just witness the latest issue of the American Rifleman. They admit that gun owners are mad, and have been contacting them.

And then they attempt to justify their support of this bill by saying “Trust us”.

Well, we don’t trust them. And we certainly don’t trust Cong. Carolyn McCarthy. Nor do we trust Sen. Patrick Leahy,

Take a look at what supporters of this bill are saying about it: http://www.nationalgunrights.org/othershr2640.shtml

This bill has already passed the House of Representatives with a sneaky voice vote and is expected to be voted on in the Senate soon! That is why we need you to contact your Senators today. This will be our only chance to stop this erosion of your rights!

P.S. Together we can stop the Washington insiders who want to eliminate private firearms ownership in the U.S.

What you can do:

  1. Send the pre-written message (below) to both of your US Senators. Click here to e-mail your U.S. Senators.
  2. Make an online donation to NAGR to help us fight this gun control monster.

PRE-WRITTEN MESSAGE TO SENATORS:

Dear Senator,

Please don’t allow gun control to pass on your watch. Gun owners don’t want to expand the “Instant Check” (NICS), we want to repeal it. It is simply wrong to penalize US Citizens by eliminating due process and assuming they are guilty until proven innocent. I encourage you to stand against the anti-gun Leahy bill, the Senate version of HR 2640, which the House passed when leadership snuck it through . Anti-gun zealots relentlessly push to prohibit more citizens from exercising their Second Amendment right. Your fight against the Leahy bill will prove that you are committed to the Second Amendment.

Sincerely,

HR 2640: Consider the source

Recently the NRA  has both denied and defended their support for HR2640, the McCarthy gun control bill that would disarm many in America — including many of our veterans.

Read more about this bill (sponsored by Democrat Patrick Leahy in the Senate) at:

http://www.rmgo.org/alerts/2007-McCarthy.shtml
http://www.nationalgunrights.org/hr2640.shtml

The following are quotes from other sources on this bill.  That any of these rabid anti-gun members members of Congress support this bill should give cause for pause, but with all of them backing it gun owners should be quite leery.

In a deal brokered by former NRA-board member Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) and blessed by the National Rifle Association, a bill introduced earlier this year by gun control advocate Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) to improve the NICS was modified at the last minute and passed by the House with much fanfare and little outside analysis.
–Josh Sugarmann, Mental Health Gun Bill Has Hidden Problems, The Huffington Post, July 26, 2007

With the NRA on board, the bill, which fixes flaws in the national gun background check system that allowed the Virginia Tech shooter to buy guns despite his mental health problems, has a good chance of becoming the first major gun control law in more than a decade.
— NRA, Democrats Team Up To Pass Gun Bill , www.cbsnews.com, June 13, 2007

“We ll work with anyone, if you protect the rights of law-abiding people under the second amendment and you target people that shouldn’t have guns,” NRA chief Wayne LaPierre told CBS News Correspondent Sharyl Atkisson.
— NRA, Democrats Team Up To Pass Gun Bill , www.cbsnews.com, June 13, 2007

“When the NRA and I agree on legislation, you know that it’s going to get through, become law and do some good,” says Schumer.
— NRA, Democrats Team Up To Pass Gun Bill , www.cbsnews.com, June 13, 2007

(The Politico) On the day President Bush is set to receive a report on April s deadly Virginia Tech shooting, Congress took steps to pass the first piece of federal gun control legislation in 13 years.
–Patrick O’Connor, Schumer Predicts Smooth Senate Sailing For Gun Bill, The Politico, June 13, 2007

“I came to Congress in 1997 in the wake of my own personal tragedy,” she said. “Today&we are one step closer to reducing the needless deaths from gun violence.” (Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.))
–Patrick O’Connor, Schumer Predicts Smooth Senate Sailing For Gun Bill, The Politico, June 13, 2007

Don’t faint, but the National Rifle Association and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence have joined forces behind a bill regulating the sale of firearms.
— Gun reform with NRA blessing, The Denver Post, June 17, 2007

The NRA is the nation’s largest gun-rights group. But its support for the new bill actually reflects the NRA’s long-standing belief that existing gun laws should be enforced before new ones are written. That’s exactly what the McCarthy/ Smith/Dingell bill would do.
— Gun reform with NRA blessing, The Denver Post, June 17, 2007

Also pending in Congress is a Gun Show Loophole Closing Act of 2007, geared to require criminal-background checks for all firearm transactions at events where guns change hands.
This has drawn criticism from groups such as the National Rifle Association-Institute for Legislative Action, which said the measure “masquerades as reform imposing bureaucratic restrictions aimed at shutting down gun shows without fixing real problems.” The NRA, however, has supported some of the proposed federal changes.
–Anna M. Tinsley, Gun control back as national issue, The Seattle Times, August 16, 2007

The difference is that the NRA endorsed the background check improvements, boosting its chances of becoming the first major national gun control law in more than a decade.
–Andrew Taylor of Associated Press, NRA Challenges Gun-Control Democrats, www.ABCNews.com, June 27, 2007

The House voted Wednesday to fix flaws in the national gun background check system that allowed the Virginia Tech shooter to buy guns despite his mental health problems.
The legislation, passed by voice vote, was endorsed by the National Rifle Association, boosting its chances of becoming the first major gun control law in more than a decade.
–Jim Abrams, Associated Press, House Tempers Background Checks for Guns, www.ABCNews.com, June 14, 2007

The NRA worked closely with Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., a gun rights proponent and senior House member, in crafting the new bill. The NRA insisted it was not gun control legislation because it does nothing to restrict legal rights to buy guns.
–Jim Abrams, Associated Press, House Tempers Background Checks for Guns, www.ABCNews.com, June 14, 2007

Senior Democrats have reached agreement with the National Rifle Association on what could be the first federal gun-control legislation since 1994, a measure to significantly strengthen the national system that checks the backgrounds of gun buyers.
–Jonathan Weisman, Democrats, NRA Reach Deal on Background-Check Bill, Washington Post, Sunday, June 10, 2007; Page A02

By contrast, this agreement is a marriage of convenience for both sides. Democratic leaders are eager to show that they can respond legislatively to the Virginia Tech rampage, a feat that GOP leaders would not muster after the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado. Meanwhile, the NRA was motivated to show it would not stand in the way of a bill that would not harm law-abiding gun buyers.
–Jonathan Weisman, Democrats, NRA Reach Deal on Background-Check Bill, Washington Post, Sunday, June 10, 2007; Page A02

Now in her fifth term, McCarthy can see the light. Spurred by the massacre of 32 people by a gunman at Virginia Tech in April — and in a rare collaboration with the National Rifle Association — the House passed legislation that would provide money for states to collect and maintain records on the mentally ill, with penalties if states don’t comply.
–Lois Romano, A Long-Sought Advance for a Gun-Control Bid Born of Sorrow , The Washington Post, Jun 14, 2007, A.25

McCarthy said the bill in essence enforces a 1968 gun-control measure that prohibits the sale of firearms to those adjudicated as mentally ill. She gives major credit to Rep. John D. Dingell (D-Mich.), a former NRA board member, for negotiating with the organization, because she was a bit wary.

Social Security

If Social Security is your issue then you should be informed about what is really happening and not the media reporting the Democrats scare tactics in order to get people to vote for them. Just like no one is trying starve anyone, as I’ve heard some Democrats claim, there is NO ONE trying to take social security away from Seniors or anyone else. Anyone who says so or implies that is going to happen because Republicans are elected is a liar. Something MUST be done or the system will fail and then their will be no social security for anyone for sure.
I’m all for Social Security reform and allowing people to invest at least some of their money. I don’t plan on it being around when I retire in 20+ years, especially if the politicians keep screwing around and do nothing about fixing the problems. If I had the money I was paying into Social Security and what my employer was matching (they are required to pay half the tax, so what you get taken out of your check is the other half) now and put that into my 401K along with what I currently contribute it would be about $500 a month. I’m sure I’d have enough to retire early if I could put that much in my plan.
If I only had the money that has been taken out of my pay and from my employers for SSI since I started working 25+ years ago and had invested it, I probably could have retired very comfortably by 50.
If you have a 401K or other plan at work you are an extreme fool if you are not contributing to it at least up to the employer match. I started doing that when I became employed by a corporation. Later playing with Quicken Turbo Tax it suggested if I put 14% instead of 5% in my 401K since it comes out of my check pre taxes would reduce my taxes enough that it made no difference in what I got to take home. Which to me is 100% WIN – WIN! Giving the government less and save more for retirement is definitely a great thing.
If you don’t have a 401K or other employer sponsored plan then I highly recommend starting an IRA, maybe in addition to your employer’s plan. I highly recommend you avoid individual stocks, even if they the company you work for. Look at what happened to the people who worked for Enron.. Invest them in good Solid mutual funds which have good long term track records. The sooner you start the more you can enjoy yourself when you retire.

Some facts about Social Security

This is from the Social Security Administration website
2006 Trustees Report Long-Term Financing Challenges Remain

http://www.ssa.gov/pressoffice/pr/trustee06-pr.htm

I haven’t quoted the whole report but here are some of the scarry facts.

“The 2006 Social Security Trustees Report shows little change in the projected financial status of the Social Security program over last year. The Trustees Report projects that the Social Security Trust Funds will be exhausted in 2040 one year sooner than last year’s projection. And, as they have done for more than a decade, the Trustees recommend that projected trust fund deficits be addressed in a timely way to allow for gradual changes and advance notice to workers.

In the 2006 Annual Report to Congress, the Trustees announced:

  • The projected point at which tax revenues will fall below program costs comes in 2017 — the same as the estimate in last year’s report.
  • The projected point at which the Trust Funds will be exhausted comes in 2040 — one year earlier than the projection in last year’s report.
  • The projected actuarial deficit over the 75-year long-range period is 2.02 percent of taxable payroll — up .09 percent from last year’s report.
  • Over the 75-year period, the Trust Funds require additional revenue equivalent to $4.6 trillion in today’s dollars to pay all scheduled benefits. This unfunded obligation is $600 billion higher than the amount estimated last year.”

“More than 150 Congressional Candidates Pledge to Reform Social Security

http://www.socialsecurity.org/

With the mid-term elections rapidly approaching, more than 150 candidates have signed a pledge being to “work toward a bipartisan solution to strengthen Social Security for the long-term by putting aside partisan politics and seeking common ground.” The pledge is being circulated by For Our Grandchildren, a grassroots advocacy organization that has long supported Social Security reform, including personal accounts. Although the pledge itself does not mention any particular option for reforming the failing Social Security system, For Our grandchildren calls for reform based on five key principles: 1) We must guarantee the promised benefits for the current and nearly retired. 2) Workers should have the choice to put a portion of their payroll taxes into prudent diversified investments. 3) Workers should own their own accounts – not the government. 4) A government safety net should ensure a minimum retirement benefit. 5) There should be no payroll tax increase.”

“It’s Your Money

http://www.socialsecurity.org/toolkit/community.html

The debate over Social Security reform has generated many competing claims and confusing projections. But the most important issue is this: Will the current Social Security system provide our children and our grandchildren with a secure and comfortable retirement? Since the answer to that simple question is no, there’s no denying the need for reform.

This booklet explains the state of the Social Security system today and describes how we can fix the flaws in its structure that, if left unchanged, will burden our children and grandchildren with unnecessary debt and taxes. The good news is that, with revisions to the Social Security system, we will be able to provide future generations with a program that actually accomplishes more successfully what the creators of the original Social Security program hoped to achieve real retirement security.

A few facts from the White house site on Social Security reform

http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/social-security/

President Bush has discussed the importance of Social Security and the need to fix the Social Security system for future generations of Americans. The President has assured Americans that he will not change the Social Security system in any way for those born before 1950.

  • Social Security was one of the great moral successes of the 20th century by providing a critical foundation of income for retired and disabled workers.
  • For one-third of Americans over 65, Social Security benefits constitute 90% of their total income

Background on Presidential Action

  • Social Security is sound for today’s seniors and for those nearing retirement, but it needs to be fixed for younger workers our children and grandchildren.
  • The government has made promises it cannot afford to pay for with the current pay-as-you-go system.

  • In 1950, there were 16 workers to support every one beneficiary of Social Security.
  • Today, there are only 3.3 workers supporting every Social Security beneficiary.
  • In 2008 just three short years from now baby boomers will begin to retire. And over the next few decades, people will be living longer and benefits are scheduled to increase dramatically. By the time today s youngest workers turn 65, there will only be 2 workers supporting each beneficiary.
    • Under the current system, today’s 30-year-old worker will face a 27% benefit cut when he or she reaches normal retirement age.”

I got this some time back and found it today cleaning my attachment folder which has not been done in a long time.  I don’t know who wrote it or who sent it to me,  I added a couple of sentences and paragraphs (after 14.) of incidents they didn’t write.  BTW, when I see liberal bumper stickers on a car I am very tempted to vandalize it or run them off the road.  There are no bumper stickers on my vehicle. But I try to live the Golden Rule of do unto others as you would have them do to you.  Mostly the way I want to be treated by others is to leave me alone, unless your a pretty woman and then I’ll make an exception to that.

======================================================================

Dear Mr. Ex President Clinton:

I recently saw a bumper sticker that said, “Thank me, I voted for Clinton-Gore.” So, I sat down and reflected on that, and I am sending my “Thank you” for what you have done, specifically:

1. Thank you for introducing us to Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Dolly Kyle Browning, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broderick. Did I leave anyone out?

2. Thank you for teaching my 8 year old about oral sex. I had really planned to wait until they were older to discuss it with them, but now they know more about it than I did as a senior in college.

3. Thank you for showing us that sexual harassment in the work place (especially the White House) and on the job is OK, and all you have to know is what the meaning of “is” is. It really is great to know that certain sexual acts are not sex, and one person may have sex while the other one involved does NOT have sex.

4. Thank you for reintroducing the concept of impeachment to a new generation and demonstrating that the ridiculous plot of the movie, “Wag the Dog” could be plausible after all.

5. Thanks for making Jimmy Carter look competent, Gerald Ford look graceful, Richard Nixon look honest, Lyndon Johnson look truthful, and John Kennedy look moral.

6. Thank you for the 73 House and Senate witnesses who have pled the 5th Amendment and 17 witnesses who have fled the country to avoid testifying about Democratic campaign fund raising.

7. Thank you, for the 19 charges, 8 convictions, and 4 imprisonments from the Whitewater “mess” and the 55 criminal charges and 32 criminal convictions (so far) in the other “Clinton” scandals.

8. Thanks you and the other Democrats  for reducing our military by half, “gutting” much of our foreign policy, intelligence capability and flying all over the world on “vacations” carefully disguised as necessary trips.  It seems you have been campaigning for Secretary General of the United Nations since your re-election in 1996.

9. Thank you, also, for “finding” millions of dollars— I really didn’t need it in the first place, and I can’t think of a more well deserving group of recipients for my hard-earned dollar than jet fuel for all of your globe-trotting. I understand you, your family and your  cronies have logged in more time aboard Air Force One than any other  administration. Good luck on your continued campaign to be King of the world.

10. Now that you’ve left the White House, thanks for the 140 pardons of convicted felons and indicted felons-in-exile. We will love to have them rejoin society.

11. Thanks also for removing the White House silverware. I’m sure that Laura Bush didn’t like the pattern anyway. Also, enjoy the housewarming gifts you’ve received from your “friends.”

12. Thanks to you and your staff in the West Wing of the White House for vandalizing and destroying government property such as removing all the W keys on the computer keyboards on the way out. I also appreciate removing all of that excess weight (China, silverware, linen, towels, ash trays, soap, pens, magnetic compass, flight manuals, etc.) out of Air Force 1. The weight savings means burning less fuel, thus less tax dollars spent on jet fuel. Thank you!

13. And, please ensure that Hillary enjoys the $8 million dollar advance for her upcoming “tell-all” book and you, Bill, the $10 million advance for your memoirs. Who says crime doesn’t pay?

14. The last and most important point – thank you for forcing Israel to let Mohammed Atta go free. Terrorist pilot Mohammed Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called “political prisoners.” However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands. The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, “insisted” that all prisoners be released. Thus Mohammed Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified. It was censored in the US from all later reports. Why shouldn’t Americans know the real truth?

15. Thank you for not taking up Sudan’s offer to turn over Osoma bin Laden to US custody twice, we all know how he has repaid the United States for letting him remain free.

16. Thank you for killing all those troublesome people in Waco, stopping David Koresh from corrupting all those people by burning all 93 of them to death. Thank you for Ruby Ridge, surely Randy Weaver’s wife deserved being shot in the head while standing in the door holding her child, his son and a friend all killed because he wouldn’t spy on white supremacists for the FBI.  Thank you for promoting all the BTAF and FBI agents that were responsible for these acts and doing such a good job of covering up their wrong doing.

17.  Thank you for making it harder for victims to obtain guns to defend themselves from criminals. After all you taught us words are flexible and that musty document the Constitution is a living document open to interpretation.  Just because it says “..the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” doesn’t mean you can’t ban evil looking “assault weapons”, clips with capacities of more than 10, take the records of gun stores, and make people wait 5 days before they can get a gun to defend themselves.

18. Thank you for passing one of the largest tax increases in history.  I’m glad you could take our money and spend it on things you thought were important.  Thank you for causing a recession and suing evil Microsoft.  The stock market was way over valued any ways before your actions caused it to drop.

19. Thank you for helping the Communist Chinese with their ballistic missile program and giving them the technology for launching multiple warheads with one rocket, I’m sure they will only use it for satellites.  I know they have already thanked you and Al Gore with millions in camping contributions.  Who would of thought monks had so much money.

What a guy!! If you agree that the American public must be made aware of these facts, pass this on.

God bless America and THANK YOU (once again) for spending my taxes so wisely and frugally.

SINCERELY,
A US Citizen

PS. Please pass along a special thank you to Al Gore for “inventing” the Internet, without which I would not be able to send this wonderful factual e-mail.

AND THE REST OF THE STORY Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York State Senator, now comes under the “Congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan,” which means that even if she never gets re-elected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she dies. Would it not be nice if all Americans were pension eligible after only 4 years?

If Bill outlives her, he then inherits HER salary until HE dies. He is already getting his Presidential salary until he dies. If Hillary outlives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies. Guess who pays for that? WE DO!
It’s common knowledge that in order for her to establish NY residency they purchased a million dollar-plus house in upscale Chappaqua, New York. Makes sense. They are entitled to Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense. Here is where it becomes interesting. Their mortgage payments hover at around $10,000 per month. BUT, an extra residence HAD to be built within the acreage to house the Secret Service agents. The Clintons charge the Federal government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of that extra residence, which is just about equal to their mortgage payment. This means that we, the taxpayers, are paying the Clinton’s salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security, as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff-and, this is all perfectly legal!

When she runs for President, will you vote for her? How many people can YOU send this to? Good Luck to all our taxpayers.

Election Republican

Why you MUST get out and vote

While I disagree with some of the actions of the Republican leadership we must remember some of their accomplishments. The economy has been steadily improving since Clinton’s recession and 9/11 (his policies also caused that, pretty much what you can expect of having Democrats in power) and we can thank President Bush’s tax cuts and the Federal Reserve interest rate policies for that. The current unemployment rate for September 2006 was 4.6%, it has hovered around 4.6-4.8% all year and has been falling from a high of 6.0% in 2002. The average during Clinton’s presidency was 5.6%. Clinton’s policies of raising taxes eventually caused a recession, it is not something that happens over night. President Bush’s tax reform has just as slowly been improved the economy. You will not hear that from the major media because they are a bunch of liberal Democrats (over 95%) and have been trying to make President Bush look bad since before he took office. Remember when they were accusing Bush of talking down the economy when he first ran for office when all he did was point out the facts of Clinton’s economy numbers. I drives me nuts that they accused Bush of that and then turned around and have done their best to really talk down the economy and deny any good news. Productivity has grown a strong 2.5 percent over the past four quarters, well ahead of average productivity growth in the last three decades. The DOW just hit a new record high, the stock market has been doing well. My 401K has doubled in value since 2001 and my house came close to doing so before they started raising interest rates, how have your investments been doing? The Federal reserve has been raising interest rates because the economy has been doing so well they were afraid of inflation.

Economy in Focus

We also have not had a successful terrorist attack on this country since 9/11 thanks to President Bush’s polices. We have removed a terrorist controlled regime (Afghanistan) and a murderous dictator (Iraq) who supported terrorism from power. While combating terrorism is a ongoing project which may take decades we have and still are making progress in doing so. Clinton’s lack of a forceful response to terrorist attacks overseas and treating it as a law enforcement issue directly lead to 9/11. While the media has been trying to blame President Bush for North Korea have you heard any of them mention that it was Clinton who gave North Korea 2 reactors, fuel rods and technology with a promise that Kim Jong Il wouldn’t use it for anything but energy..

President Bush has put in two conservatives on the supreme court; Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr. and John G. Roberts, Jr. President Bush has the chance to nominate at least one more during his remaining term. As well as many federal judges that have been and could be nominated. President Bush has had considerable problems getting his nominees to be voted on and appointed because the Senate Judiciary is 50/50 Republicans and Democrats. Putting conservative judges in office is critical to stopping the liberal agenda and them from over turning the conservative agenda in lawsuits.

An example of this happened in Arizona recently. In 2004 the voters approved a proposition that all voters must show proper ID before they could vote, other wise they could vote a provisional ballot which wouldn’t be counted until they proved who they were. You wouldn’t think that was very controversial, but the liberal Democrats opposed it. A couple of weeks ago the 9th Federal Circuit Court in California (the most liberal and over turned court in the country) over turned the proposition weeks before the coming election which meant if their decision wasn’t over turned all the poll workers will have to be retrained from what they were taught for the recent primary elections. The liberals said we would have all kinds of problems with the primary election because of the proposition causing people to be “disenfranchised”, but the primary election went off with out a hitch. Today 10/20 the Supreme Court over ruled the 9th Circuit saying we could go ahead and enforce the law.

If we don’t get out and support the Republicans the extreme leftist who control the Democrat party now could take over control of both house’s of congress, they are very motivated to do so. They want power back desperately and will say and do anything to do so. This would mean Nancy Pelosi the extreme leftist (says she is proud to be a liberal) from San Francisco would become Speaker of the House and liberal Harry Reid from Las Vegas would be the Senate Majority leader.

The strategy of the liberals Democrats is to get conservative voters so disgusted and discouraged that they will not vote. If this happens, the liberals will have achieved their goal and they will be running congress. The Republicans control congress with a small majority and often there are enough liberals in the Republican party that they have not been accomplish many of the things we would like them to do. If they loose seats to the Democrats it will only be worse, especially in the Senate which has been continually fighting President Bush and the Republicans in the House of Representatives.

If it had not to been for the Conservative Republicans in the House refusing to take up the McCain/Kennedy immigration bill we would have had amnesty for millions of illegal aliens which would have encouraged many millions more to come here as the 1986 bill did. Instead we have passed a bill to build a 700 mile fence to help slow the tide of drugs, illegal aliens, criminals and very likely terrorist from coming over our southern boarder. We have much more to do there but it is a start.

The Democrats have done nothing during President Bush’s term but be obstructionists, undermining our national security by leaking details of our counter terrorist programs to the liberal media and doing anything and everything they can to try to make President Bush look bad. Virtually all the people claiming President Bush lied about Iraq saw the same information he did and voted for the war. Now the hypocrites have changed their tune and have been doing their best to undermine President Bush and our military. I blame them for the deaths of many of our brave service men. If you have paid attention you would hear the terrorist saying many of the same things the Democrats have been saying about President Bush and our military. We are seeing an upsurge in attacks against our military in Iraq now because with encouragement from the Democrats they believe if they can get you to vote Bush’s supporters out of office we will pull out of Iraq just like Clinton did with the Black Hawk Down Incident. (you should see the movie). I could go on and on about that but that isn’t the purpose of this post.

While one republican congress man, Mark Foley is involved in a scandal involving pages it must be remembered that he has left office and it was only instant messages. It remains to be seen who knew about his activities, but we do know the Democrats have known since at least March and waited until September when it would make the Republicans look bad just before the election. They put children at risk to further their political strategy.

The Democrats have at least two homosexual people who have been involved in sex scandals and still in office. Gary Studds actually had sex with a 17 year old male page in 1983 and was still in office until he died on October 14th of this year. Remember Barney Franks roommate? A male prostitute living with Frank ran a homosexual prostitution ring from his apartment, Frank was reprimanded for fixing 33 of the pimp’s parking tickets.

How about Ted Kennedy’s exploits, remember those? BTW, both Studds and Kennedy are from Massachusetts.. What happened to our original 13 colonies? Why have they become liberal socialist havens? What ever a Republican’s failings maybe, you can be sure the Democrats are way worse.

Values Voters–Head to the Polls!

The problem isn’t the Republicans, it is people voting in immoral people into office. You can only expect these sort of problems with people who do not live up to the sort of moral code we would like to see our leaders follow. Remember Clinton’s sex numerous scandals, why is when it when it is the Democrats it is a private matter between two people but when it is a Republican it is a big scandal that the media goes on and on about for weeks? You have to remember this is the liberal news media trying to get their buddies back in power and they will say and write anything they can to make the Republican look bad whether is true or not. Remember Dan Rather having to retire because he kept trying to push some fraudulent documents about President Bush’s service in the National Guard? “NEW YORK (CNN) — Longtime anchor Dan Rather will leave the “CBS Evening News” on March 9, the network said Tuesday, just months after Rather’s use of questionable documents in a report critical of President Bush’s National Guard service.

Longtime anchor Dan Rather will leave the “CBS Evening News

They are out to get President Bush and the Republicans no mater what it takes. You MUST take that in to account when hearing any news from ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, CNBC and the vast majority of the major news papers. I get all my news from the radio, Internet and Fox.

“I think Dan is transparently liberal. Now he may not like to hear me say that. I always agree with him, too. But I think he should be more careful.” –CBS 60 Minutes Commentator Andy Rooney on Larry King Live, July 28, 2002

“Everybody knows that there’s a liberal, that there’s a heavy liberal persuasion among correspondents.” –Walter Cronkite, former CBS anchor, at the annual Radio and Television Correspondents Association dinner, March 21, 1996.

“I believe that most of us reporters are liberal…we are inclined to side with the powerless rather than the powerful. If that is what makes us liberals, so be it.” –Walter Cronkite in his syndicated column, August 6, 2003.

How important are the upcoming elections?

These elections are crucial and it is extremely important that you vote. Please vote and encourage others you know to do the same. If you don’t like things the way they are, they will be infinitely worse if the liberal democrats win. Have you noticed that the Democrats have not been saying what they are for but have ran on a platform of being critical of Republicans saying we must make a Change? A change to what?

Here is what we can expect if the Democrats/Socialists/liberals win:

We will withdraw prematurely from Iraq, sending the message to the terrorists that if they will just be patient and keep killing our service men they can defeat us and stop the spread of democracy in the middle east. Iraq will become a breading ground for terrorists just like Afghanistan became after Russia pulled out. The terrorist will move from attacking us in Iraq to other targets including the cities of America.

They will try to impeach Bush and have already said that is their intention according to Senator John Conyers. They want to get even for Clinton’s impeachment.

Gas prices are going down now, but you can thank the Democrats for them being so high in the first place. They have systematical stopped us from developing domestic oil production. The biggest reason we have such high gas prices is our refineries are running at near maximum capacity and a new one has not been built in over 25 years but demand has continually gone up. The Democrats want to increase the taxes on the fuel you buy and will continue to stop us from drilling in ANWR, and off the coasts, building any new refineries, power plants and thing else that would lead us to energy independence.

They want to give amnesty and social security (they have already tried to pass a bill to do just that) for 12,000,000 illegal immigrants. They will stop our efforts to secure our boarders, they are for open boarders and see nothing wrong with millions of people coming her illegally because they see them as potential voters for the liberals.

No more conservative “original intent” judges, only liberal judges who see the Constitution as a “living evolving” document will be appointed. They will continue to create laws to implement the social agenda liberals cannot get passed through the legislative process.

A push over turning our marriage laws through the courts in all 50 states, making homosexual marriage and polygamy legal. They claim it is about giving them the same rights married people enjoy but that is a lie.

Liberals will make the killing prenatal children even harder to stop. They have done their best to stop the outlawing of partial birth abortion which is an abhorrent procedure. They have voted against parental notification, I.E. if your under age daughter wants to have an abortion the don’t have to call you first.

Liberals will continue to try to rid our society of Christian influence, including any reference to God in our Pledge and on our currency. Groups like the ACLU have been attacking Christian values all over the country. There is no “separation of Church and State in the Constitution”. The first amendment states that “Congress shall make no law respecting and establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”‘..

A return to the “Fairness Doctrine” in broadcasting where opposing views must be given equal time. Every conservative talk show host will be forced to give a liberal equal time on every issue. The purpose of this rule will be to shut down conservative talk shows.

An increase in taxes to push new social programs. Charlie Rangel is the top-ranking Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee, which writes federal tax laws would become chairman of the Committee and has promised to roll back President Bush’s tax cuts and has pledged to increase taxes across the board.

Senate Search for Charlie Rangel

They will pass new “hate crimes” laws making it illegal to refer to homosexuality in a negative manner. I don’t believe in “hate” crimes, it is illegal to kill, injure or do anything violent to people. It shouldn’t matter what the reason behind the action is, is it any different to murder someone because of their skin color or they are being robbed or some other reason. What ever the reason the punishment should be the same.

Liberals will give terrorists from other countries who try to kill Americans the same rights American citizens enjoy under our constitution. Terrorist are illegal enemy combatants and are not afforded the same rights as military people under the Geneva Convention, yet the Democrats have fought to give them these rights and even the same rights US citizens do.

My Political Leanings

My Political View Point

“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny;
when the government fears the people, there is liberty” – Thomas Jefferson

“I love my country but fear what it’s government has become..” – unknown

You can read my past political ranting on my Conservative Opinions & Political Commentary Page on my home page site

I am interested in politics, I don’t fit in any clearly defined category. If I had to define myself I guess I would be a Libertarian Republican, far right wing conservative or a Constitutionalist, take your pick. I’d probably be a Libertarian but most of the Libertarians I know are whack jobs.. So call me a conservative constitutionalist.
I am a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment of the Bill of Rights as will as the rest of the Bill of Rights and Constitution. See my The People’s Right to Bear Arms and 2nd Amendment Quotes web pages
I believe our government ignores these inspired documents and we the people need to do what ever we must to keep them from taking our rights and freedoms from us, whether incrementally or wholesale. If strong opinions don’t upset you and you won’t be offended by what I say, considering what I’ve already told you, then go ahead and read the rest of the page. If they do upset you, you were warned so don’t complain to me about it! As the T-shirt one of my sisters gave me for Christmas a while back says “I’m not opinionated, I’m just always right!”.
Some quick thoughts on current politics. Democrats are evil and while the Republicans aren’t the best we could hope for they are a an improvement over having immoral socialists who stand for about everything I oppose being in charge.
I have a lot of complaints about President Bush and the Republicans, I don’t know why the Democrats are complain so much (other than they aren’t in power and that is all they care about wether it is good for the country or not), the Republicans have massively grown the size of government since they have been in office and have spent like drunken sailors, something the Democrats would do if they were in power. About the only things I can say Bush and the Republican congress have done I like is lower taxes some, put in some conservative judges which is extremely important and have done a fair job on the war on terror. Even though the mainstream media and Democrats have done their best to under mine what we are doing. If the Democrats win back the House and Senate this year it will be bad for the country and I blame the Republicans because they have done such a lousy job of running the country and have forsaken their roots.
The one thing I want the Republicans to do right away is close our boarders. We are being invaded and it has to stop. If we have to post the military on the Mexican boarder and shoot every person that tries to cross the boarder illegally to make it stop I’d be for it, we must do what ever it takes! I live in Arizona and I see the costs of illegal immigration, nay, invaders who are violating our borders. We are spending a fortune on bi-lingual education, our hospitals are closing emergency rooms because they are going bankrupt. We have the highest stolen car rate in the nation. It is common for the illegals to get in accidents and then take off because they are here illegal and have no insurance.
I saw the results of one such accident a couple months ago. A pickup I’m sure was driven by an illegal ran a red light in front of my dentist’s office, hit an SUV, turned it over, took out a electric pole, fire hydrant and only because it hit a large tree and stopped preventing it from plowing into the dentist’s office. The driver got out and took off running, there were several witnesses, from the nearby school and apartment complex across the street, but no one tried to stop him.. I could go on and on about such problems, but need to get to bed.. They cause crime, gangs, drugs, people smuggling, you name it and we have it all going on in Arizona..
Well, I will keep this some what short since it is late and this is really a test of the email my post to my blog set up. When I have more time I will rant some more. The one thing I don’t have a lot of these days is time..
