[Fcalerts-list] NRA BoD Recommendations

Please reply to feedback at FirearmsCoalition.org (using appropriate email
format).

Well it’s that time of year again and those of you who are Life Members or
have been regular members of NRA for five or more consecutive years should
have received the “Ballot Issue” of your NRA magazine this week.

We are receiving a lot of requests for recommendations of who to vote for
and so we respond with the following based on the principle that Change is
Good.

History tells us that all, or almost all of the current Board Members
running will be reelected, making it highly unlikely that more than two or
three new members can win and those that do are almost guaranteed to be
among those nominated by the Nominating Committee.

That being the case, we recommend that you “bullet vote”, casting your
ballot with as few as just one, but no more than three or four names
marked. For a variety of reasons, we recommend you vote only for candidates
you personally know and respect and one or all of the following three well
qualified candidates:

Johnny Nugent is highly recommended by activists in his home state of
Indiana

Curtis Jenkins receives similar endorsement from our friends in Georgia

David Jones has been a prominent activist and leader in Missouri for
many years

We are voting for only those three.

If you feel you must vote for more than just three, other candidates who
are not current members of the Board include:

Charles Fox
Steven Schreiner
Fred Edgecomb
Cleta Mitchell
Al Cardenas
James Dark
Ken Elliott

Please do not vote for any of the several long-time members of the Board
and celebrities that are up for reelection. Skip the old standards in favor
of a few new faces.

Please share this information – post it on forums, in gun shops and at
ranges, e-mail it to your NRA friends.

The Board of Directors is supposed to set policy and hold staff accountable
for following those policies; instead the Board is being managed by the
staff. Every new face elected to the Board offers the potential for a shift
away from that status quo.

We hope you find this helpful.

Yours for the Second Amendment,

The Knox Crew

Illegals kill over 9,000 annually

According to Rep. Steve King, illegal aliens commit 12
murders every day in the U.S. and kill another 13 daily
through drunk driving incidents.

That’s more than 9,000 people killed every year by
illegal aliens.

As World Net Daily’s Joseph Farah points out, that means
more people are murdered by illegal aliens in one year
than have been killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars
since their inception.

Rep. King also notes that on average eight children are
sexually abused by illegal aliens every day — that’s
over 2,920 annually. And that’s just a small portion
of the illegal alien crime wave.

    • 4.1 million crimes by illegal aliens

As we reported in Grassfire’s booklet, “The Truth About
The Illegal Invasion,” some 325,000 criminal illegal
aliens will be incarcerated in state and federal prisons
this fiscal year. A GAO study found that illegal aliens
commit, on average, 12.6 criminal offenses. This means
incarcerated illegal aliens have committed over 4.1
million crimes — and that does not include illegal
alien criminals who are not incarcerated. And we
learned from Rep. Tom Tancredo that thousands of
illegals are coming from terrorist and suspect nations.

    • So, what do we do?

It is very clear that the President and the Democrat-controlled
Congress are “chomping at the bit” to pass amnesty. The
only way to stop this is to rally a massive grassroots
uprising.

    • Action Item — alert your friends

I am asking you to pass this message on to your friends,
co-workers, family members who may not be aware of how
serious the illegal invasion crime epidemic is.

Encourage them to take a stand to stop the illegal
invasion by signing our petition:

http://www.grassfire.org/42/petition.asp?RID=11514108

We have set a goal of rallying 1 million citizens before
the Bush-Pelosi amnesty push gets rolling, but we need
your help.

Finally, thanks to everyone who is standing with Grassfire
as a “Border Watchman.” Our custom lapel pins are due in any
day now. To reserve your pin and, more importantly, help
Grassfire launch “Operation Border Watchman”, go here:

Social Security

If Social Security is your issue then you should be informed about what is really happening and not the media reporting the Democrats scare tactics in order to get people to vote for them. Just like no one is trying starve anyone, as I’ve heard some Democrats claim, there is NO ONE trying to take social security away from Seniors or anyone else. Anyone who says so or implies that is going to happen because Republicans are elected is a liar. Something MUST be done or the system will fail and then their will be no social security for anyone for sure.
I’m all for Social Security reform and allowing people to invest at least some of their money. I don’t plan on it being around when I retire in 20+ years, especially if the politicians keep screwing around and do nothing about fixing the problems. If I had the money I was paying into Social Security and what my employer was matching (they are required to pay half the tax, so what you get taken out of your check is the other half) now and put that into my 401K along with what I currently contribute it would be about $500 a month. I’m sure I’d have enough to retire early if I could put that much in my plan.
If I only had the money that has been taken out of my pay and from my employers for SSI since I started working 25+ years ago and had invested it, I probably could have retired very comfortably by 50.
If you have a 401K or other plan at work you are an extreme fool if you are not contributing to it at least up to the employer match. I started doing that when I became employed by a corporation. Later playing with Quicken Turbo Tax it suggested if I put 14% instead of 5% in my 401K since it comes out of my check pre taxes would reduce my taxes enough that it made no difference in what I got to take home. Which to me is 100% WIN – WIN! Giving the government less and save more for retirement is definitely a great thing.
If you don’t have a 401K or other employer sponsored plan then I highly recommend starting an IRA, maybe in addition to your employer’s plan. I highly recommend you avoid individual stocks, even if they the company you work for. Look at what happened to the people who worked for Enron.. Invest them in good Solid mutual funds which have good long term track records. The sooner you start the more you can enjoy yourself when you retire.

Some facts about Social Security

This is from the Social Security Administration website
2006 Trustees Report Long-Term Financing Challenges Remain

http://www.ssa.gov/pressoffice/pr/trustee06-pr.htm

I haven’t quoted the whole report but here are some of the scarry facts.

“The 2006 Social Security Trustees Report shows little change in the projected financial status of the Social Security program over last year. The Trustees Report projects that the Social Security Trust Funds will be exhausted in 2040 one year sooner than last year’s projection. And, as they have done for more than a decade, the Trustees recommend that projected trust fund deficits be addressed in a timely way to allow for gradual changes and advance notice to workers.

In the 2006 Annual Report to Congress, the Trustees announced:

  • The projected point at which tax revenues will fall below program costs comes in 2017 — the same as the estimate in last year’s report.
  • The projected point at which the Trust Funds will be exhausted comes in 2040 — one year earlier than the projection in last year’s report.
  • The projected actuarial deficit over the 75-year long-range period is 2.02 percent of taxable payroll — up .09 percent from last year’s report.
  • Over the 75-year period, the Trust Funds require additional revenue equivalent to $4.6 trillion in today’s dollars to pay all scheduled benefits. This unfunded obligation is $600 billion higher than the amount estimated last year.”

“More than 150 Congressional Candidates Pledge to Reform Social Security

http://www.socialsecurity.org/

With the mid-term elections rapidly approaching, more than 150 candidates have signed a pledge being to “work toward a bipartisan solution to strengthen Social Security for the long-term by putting aside partisan politics and seeking common ground.” The pledge is being circulated by For Our Grandchildren, a grassroots advocacy organization that has long supported Social Security reform, including personal accounts. Although the pledge itself does not mention any particular option for reforming the failing Social Security system, For Our grandchildren calls for reform based on five key principles: 1) We must guarantee the promised benefits for the current and nearly retired. 2) Workers should have the choice to put a portion of their payroll taxes into prudent diversified investments. 3) Workers should own their own accounts – not the government. 4) A government safety net should ensure a minimum retirement benefit. 5) There should be no payroll tax increase.”

“It’s Your Money

http://www.socialsecurity.org/toolkit/community.html

The debate over Social Security reform has generated many competing claims and confusing projections. But the most important issue is this: Will the current Social Security system provide our children and our grandchildren with a secure and comfortable retirement? Since the answer to that simple question is no, there’s no denying the need for reform.

This booklet explains the state of the Social Security system today and describes how we can fix the flaws in its structure that, if left unchanged, will burden our children and grandchildren with unnecessary debt and taxes. The good news is that, with revisions to the Social Security system, we will be able to provide future generations with a program that actually accomplishes more successfully what the creators of the original Social Security program hoped to achieve real retirement security.

A few facts from the White house site on Social Security reform

http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/social-security/

President Bush has discussed the importance of Social Security and the need to fix the Social Security system for future generations of Americans. The President has assured Americans that he will not change the Social Security system in any way for those born before 1950.

  • Social Security was one of the great moral successes of the 20th century by providing a critical foundation of income for retired and disabled workers.
  • For one-third of Americans over 65, Social Security benefits constitute 90% of their total income

Background on Presidential Action

  • Social Security is sound for today’s seniors and for those nearing retirement, but it needs to be fixed for younger workers our children and grandchildren.
  • The government has made promises it cannot afford to pay for with the current pay-as-you-go system.

  • In 1950, there were 16 workers to support every one beneficiary of Social Security.
  • Today, there are only 3.3 workers supporting every Social Security beneficiary.
  • In 2008 just three short years from now baby boomers will begin to retire. And over the next few decades, people will be living longer and benefits are scheduled to increase dramatically. By the time today s youngest workers turn 65, there will only be 2 workers supporting each beneficiary.
    • Under the current system, today’s 30-year-old worker will face a 27% benefit cut when he or she reaches normal retirement age.”

Thank you President Clinton

I got this some time back and found it today cleaning my attachment folder which has not been done in a long time.  I don’t know who wrote it or who sent it to me,  I added a couple of sentences and paragraphs (after 14.) of incidents they didn’t write.  BTW, when I see liberal bumper stickers on a car I am very tempted to vandalize it or run them off the road.  There are no bumper stickers on my vehicle. But I try to live the Golden Rule of do unto others as you would have them do to you.  Mostly the way I want to be treated by others is to leave me alone, unless your a pretty woman and then I’ll make an exception to that.

======================================================================

Dear Mr. Ex President Clinton:

I recently saw a bumper sticker that said, “Thank me, I voted for Clinton-Gore.” So, I sat down and reflected on that, and I am sending my “Thank you” for what you have done, specifically:

1. Thank you for introducing us to Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Dolly Kyle Browning, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broderick. Did I leave anyone out?

2. Thank you for teaching my 8 year old about oral sex. I had really planned to wait until they were older to discuss it with them, but now they know more about it than I did as a senior in college.

3. Thank you for showing us that sexual harassment in the work place (especially the White House) and on the job is OK, and all you have to know is what the meaning of “is” is. It really is great to know that certain sexual acts are not sex, and one person may have sex while the other one involved does NOT have sex.

4. Thank you for reintroducing the concept of impeachment to a new generation and demonstrating that the ridiculous plot of the movie, “Wag the Dog” could be plausible after all.

5. Thanks for making Jimmy Carter look competent, Gerald Ford look graceful, Richard Nixon look honest, Lyndon Johnson look truthful, and John Kennedy look moral.

6. Thank you for the 73 House and Senate witnesses who have pled the 5th Amendment and 17 witnesses who have fled the country to avoid testifying about Democratic campaign fund raising.

7. Thank you, for the 19 charges, 8 convictions, and 4 imprisonments from the Whitewater “mess” and the 55 criminal charges and 32 criminal convictions (so far) in the other “Clinton” scandals.

8. Thanks you and the other Democrats  for reducing our military by half, “gutting” much of our foreign policy, intelligence capability and flying all over the world on “vacations” carefully disguised as necessary trips.  It seems you have been campaigning for Secretary General of the United Nations since your re-election in 1996.

9. Thank you, also, for “finding” millions of dollars— I really didn’t need it in the first place, and I can’t think of a more well deserving group of recipients for my hard-earned dollar than jet fuel for all of your globe-trotting. I understand you, your family and your  cronies have logged in more time aboard Air Force One than any other  administration. Good luck on your continued campaign to be King of the world.

10. Now that you’ve left the White House, thanks for the 140 pardons of convicted felons and indicted felons-in-exile. We will love to have them rejoin society.

11. Thanks also for removing the White House silverware. I’m sure that Laura Bush didn’t like the pattern anyway. Also, enjoy the housewarming gifts you’ve received from your “friends.”

12. Thanks to you and your staff in the West Wing of the White House for vandalizing and destroying government property such as removing all the W keys on the computer keyboards on the way out. I also appreciate removing all of that excess weight (China, silverware, linen, towels, ash trays, soap, pens, magnetic compass, flight manuals, etc.) out of Air Force 1. The weight savings means burning less fuel, thus less tax dollars spent on jet fuel. Thank you!

13. And, please ensure that Hillary enjoys the $8 million dollar advance for her upcoming “tell-all” book and you, Bill, the $10 million advance for your memoirs. Who says crime doesn’t pay?

14. The last and most important point – thank you for forcing Israel to let Mohammed Atta go free. Terrorist pilot Mohammed Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called “political prisoners.” However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands. The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, “insisted” that all prisoners be released. Thus Mohammed Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified. It was censored in the US from all later reports. Why shouldn’t Americans know the real truth?

15. Thank you for not taking up Sudan’s offer to turn over Osoma bin Laden to US custody twice, we all know how he has repaid the United States for letting him remain free.

16. Thank you for killing all those troublesome people in Waco, stopping David Koresh from corrupting all those people by burning all 93 of them to death. Thank you for Ruby Ridge, surely Randy Weaver’s wife deserved being shot in the head while standing in the door holding her child, his son and a friend all killed because he wouldn’t spy on white supremacists for the FBI.  Thank you for promoting all the BTAF and FBI agents that were responsible for these acts and doing such a good job of covering up their wrong doing.

17.  Thank you for making it harder for victims to obtain guns to defend themselves from criminals. After all you taught us words are flexible and that musty document the Constitution is a living document open to interpretation.  Just because it says “..the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” doesn’t mean you can’t ban evil looking “assault weapons”, clips with capacities of more than 10, take the records of gun stores, and make people wait 5 days before they can get a gun to defend themselves.

18. Thank you for passing one of the largest tax increases in history.  I’m glad you could take our money and spend it on things you thought were important.  Thank you for causing a recession and suing evil Microsoft.  The stock market was way over valued any ways before your actions caused it to drop.

19. Thank you for helping the Communist Chinese with their ballistic missile program and giving them the technology for launching multiple warheads with one rocket, I’m sure they will only use it for satellites.  I know they have already thanked you and Al Gore with millions in camping contributions.  Who would of thought monks had so much money.

What a guy!! If you agree that the American public must be made aware of these facts, pass this on.

God bless America and THANK YOU (once again) for spending my taxes so wisely and frugally.

SINCERELY,
A US Citizen

PS. Please pass along a special thank you to Al Gore for “inventing” the Internet, without which I would not be able to send this wonderful factual e-mail.

AND THE REST OF THE STORY Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York State Senator, now comes under the “Congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan,” which means that even if she never gets re-elected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she dies. Would it not be nice if all Americans were pension eligible after only 4 years?

If Bill outlives her, he then inherits HER salary until HE dies. He is already getting his Presidential salary until he dies. If Hillary outlives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies. Guess who pays for that? WE DO!
It’s common knowledge that in order for her to establish NY residency they purchased a million dollar-plus house in upscale Chappaqua, New York. Makes sense. They are entitled to Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense. Here is where it becomes interesting. Their mortgage payments hover at around $10,000 per month. BUT, an extra residence HAD to be built within the acreage to house the Secret Service agents. The Clintons charge the Federal government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of that extra residence, which is just about equal to their mortgage payment. This means that we, the taxpayers, are paying the Clinton’s salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security, as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff-and, this is all perfectly legal!

When she runs for President, will you vote for her? How many people can YOU send this to? Good Luck to all our taxpayers.

Tancredo Report: Borders a "Welcome Mat" for Terrorists

From Steve Elliott
President

WARNING: Some may find the immigration report
below too graphic and shocking!

10/30/2006

After reviewing the just released report by the House Committee
on Homeland Security entitled, “A Line in the Sand: Confronting
the Threat at the Southwest Border”, U.S. Representative
Tom Tancredo (R-CO), concluded [the report] confirms our
worst fears and shows that we must focus on border security now,
and a guest worker plan later, much later.

Grassfire is urging ALL members of our ‘Border Security’ team
to read this chilling report that confirms:

  • U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigations
have revealed that aliens were smuggled from the Middle
East to staging areas in Central and South America, before
being smuggled illegally into the United States
  • Members of Hezbollah have already entered the United
    States across the Southwest border.

-U.S. military and intelligence officials believe that
Venezuela is emerging as a potential hub of terrorism in the
Western Hemisphere. The Venezuelan government is
issuing identity documents that could subsequently be used
to obtain a U.S. visa and enter the country.

Election Republican

Why you MUST get out and vote

While I disagree with some of the actions of the Republican leadership we must remember some of their accomplishments. The economy has been steadily improving since Clinton’s recession and 9/11 (his policies also caused that, pretty much what you can expect of having Democrats in power) and we can thank President Bush’s tax cuts and the Federal Reserve interest rate policies for that. The current unemployment rate for September 2006 was 4.6%, it has hovered around 4.6-4.8% all year and has been falling from a high of 6.0% in 2002. The average during Clinton’s presidency was 5.6%. Clinton’s policies of raising taxes eventually caused a recession, it is not something that happens over night. President Bush’s tax reform has just as slowly been improved the economy. You will not hear that from the major media because they are a bunch of liberal Democrats (over 95%) and have been trying to make President Bush look bad since before he took office. Remember when they were accusing Bush of talking down the economy when he first ran for office when all he did was point out the facts of Clinton’s economy numbers. I drives me nuts that they accused Bush of that and then turned around and have done their best to really talk down the economy and deny any good news. Productivity has grown a strong 2.5 percent over the past four quarters, well ahead of average productivity growth in the last three decades. The DOW just hit a new record high, the stock market has been doing well. My 401K has doubled in value since 2001 and my house came close to doing so before they started raising interest rates, how have your investments been doing? The Federal reserve has been raising interest rates because the economy has been doing so well they were afraid of inflation.

Economy in Focus

We also have not had a successful terrorist attack on this country since 9/11 thanks to President Bush’s polices. We have removed a terrorist controlled regime (Afghanistan) and a murderous dictator (Iraq) who supported terrorism from power. While combating terrorism is a ongoing project which may take decades we have and still are making progress in doing so. Clinton’s lack of a forceful response to terrorist attacks overseas and treating it as a law enforcement issue directly lead to 9/11. While the media has been trying to blame President Bush for North Korea have you heard any of them mention that it was Clinton who gave North Korea 2 reactors, fuel rods and technology with a promise that Kim Jong Il wouldn’t use it for anything but energy..

President Bush has put in two conservatives on the supreme court; Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr. and John G. Roberts, Jr. President Bush has the chance to nominate at least one more during his remaining term. As well as many federal judges that have been and could be nominated. President Bush has had considerable problems getting his nominees to be voted on and appointed because the Senate Judiciary is 50/50 Republicans and Democrats. Putting conservative judges in office is critical to stopping the liberal agenda and them from over turning the conservative agenda in lawsuits.

An example of this happened in Arizona recently. In 2004 the voters approved a proposition that all voters must show proper ID before they could vote, other wise they could vote a provisional ballot which wouldn’t be counted until they proved who they were. You wouldn’t think that was very controversial, but the liberal Democrats opposed it. A couple of weeks ago the 9th Federal Circuit Court in California (the most liberal and over turned court in the country) over turned the proposition weeks before the coming election which meant if their decision wasn’t over turned all the poll workers will have to be retrained from what they were taught for the recent primary elections. The liberals said we would have all kinds of problems with the primary election because of the proposition causing people to be “disenfranchised”, but the primary election went off with out a hitch. Today 10/20 the Supreme Court over ruled the 9th Circuit saying we could go ahead and enforce the law.

If we don’t get out and support the Republicans the extreme leftist who control the Democrat party now could take over control of both house’s of congress, they are very motivated to do so. They want power back desperately and will say and do anything to do so. This would mean Nancy Pelosi the extreme leftist (says she is proud to be a liberal) from San Francisco would become Speaker of the House and liberal Harry Reid from Las Vegas would be the Senate Majority leader.

The strategy of the liberals Democrats is to get conservative voters so disgusted and discouraged that they will not vote. If this happens, the liberals will have achieved their goal and they will be running congress. The Republicans control congress with a small majority and often there are enough liberals in the Republican party that they have not been accomplish many of the things we would like them to do. If they loose seats to the Democrats it will only be worse, especially in the Senate which has been continually fighting President Bush and the Republicans in the House of Representatives.

If it had not to been for the Conservative Republicans in the House refusing to take up the McCain/Kennedy immigration bill we would have had amnesty for millions of illegal aliens which would have encouraged many millions more to come here as the 1986 bill did. Instead we have passed a bill to build a 700 mile fence to help slow the tide of drugs, illegal aliens, criminals and very likely terrorist from coming over our southern boarder. We have much more to do there but it is a start.

The Democrats have done nothing during President Bush’s term but be obstructionists, undermining our national security by leaking details of our counter terrorist programs to the liberal media and doing anything and everything they can to try to make President Bush look bad. Virtually all the people claiming President Bush lied about Iraq saw the same information he did and voted for the war. Now the hypocrites have changed their tune and have been doing their best to undermine President Bush and our military. I blame them for the deaths of many of our brave service men. If you have paid attention you would hear the terrorist saying many of the same things the Democrats have been saying about President Bush and our military. We are seeing an upsurge in attacks against our military in Iraq now because with encouragement from the Democrats they believe if they can get you to vote Bush’s supporters out of office we will pull out of Iraq just like Clinton did with the Black Hawk Down Incident. (you should see the movie). I could go on and on about that but that isn’t the purpose of this post.

While one republican congress man, Mark Foley is involved in a scandal involving pages it must be remembered that he has left office and it was only instant messages. It remains to be seen who knew about his activities, but we do know the Democrats have known since at least March and waited until September when it would make the Republicans look bad just before the election. They put children at risk to further their political strategy.

The Democrats have at least two homosexual people who have been involved in sex scandals and still in office. Gary Studds actually had sex with a 17 year old male page in 1983 and was still in office until he died on October 14th of this year. Remember Barney Franks roommate? A male prostitute living with Frank ran a homosexual prostitution ring from his apartment, Frank was reprimanded for fixing 33 of the pimp’s parking tickets.

How about Ted Kennedy’s exploits, remember those? BTW, both Studds and Kennedy are from Massachusetts.. What happened to our original 13 colonies? Why have they become liberal socialist havens? What ever a Republican’s failings maybe, you can be sure the Democrats are way worse.

Studds Had to Die to Get NBC to Remind Viewers of His Sex with a Teen Page

Values Voters–Head to the Polls!

The problem isn’t the Republicans, it is people voting in immoral people into office. You can only expect these sort of problems with people who do not live up to the sort of moral code we would like to see our leaders follow. Remember Clinton’s sex numerous scandals, why is when it when it is the Democrats it is a private matter between two people but when it is a Republican it is a big scandal that the media goes on and on about for weeks? You have to remember this is the liberal news media trying to get their buddies back in power and they will say and write anything they can to make the Republican look bad whether is true or not. Remember Dan Rather having to retire because he kept trying to push some fraudulent documents about President Bush’s service in the National Guard? “NEW YORK (CNN) — Longtime anchor Dan Rather will leave the “CBS Evening News” on March 9, the network said Tuesday, just months after Rather’s use of questionable documents in a report critical of President Bush’s National Guard service.

Longtime anchor Dan Rather will leave the “CBS Evening News

They are out to get President Bush and the Republicans no mater what it takes. You MUST take that in to account when hearing any news from ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, CNBC and the vast majority of the major news papers. I get all my news from the radio, Internet and Fox.

“I think Dan is transparently liberal. Now he may not like to hear me say that. I always agree with him, too. But I think he should be more careful.” –CBS 60 Minutes Commentator Andy Rooney on Larry King Live, July 28, 2002

“Everybody knows that there’s a liberal, that there’s a heavy liberal persuasion among correspondents.” –Walter Cronkite, former CBS anchor, at the annual Radio and Television Correspondents Association dinner, March 21, 1996.

“I believe that most of us reporters are liberal…we are inclined to side with the powerless rather than the powerful. If that is what makes us liberals, so be it.” –Walter Cronkite in his syndicated column, August 6, 2003.

How important are the upcoming elections?

These elections are crucial and it is extremely important that you vote. Please vote and encourage others you know to do the same. If you don’t like things the way they are, they will be infinitely worse if the liberal democrats win. Have you noticed that the Democrats have not been saying what they are for but have ran on a platform of being critical of Republicans saying we must make a Change? A change to what?

Here is what we can expect if the Democrats/Socialists/liberals win:

We will withdraw prematurely from Iraq, sending the message to the terrorists that if they will just be patient and keep killing our service men they can defeat us and stop the spread of democracy in the middle east. Iraq will become a breading ground for terrorists just like Afghanistan became after Russia pulled out. The terrorist will move from attacking us in Iraq to other targets including the cities of America.

They will try to impeach Bush and have already said that is their intention according to Senator John Conyers. They want to get even for Clinton’s impeachment.

Gas prices are going down now, but you can thank the Democrats for them being so high in the first place. They have systematical stopped us from developing domestic oil production. The biggest reason we have such high gas prices is our refineries are running at near maximum capacity and a new one has not been built in over 25 years but demand has continually gone up. The Democrats want to increase the taxes on the fuel you buy and will continue to stop us from drilling in ANWR, and off the coasts, building any new refineries, power plants and thing else that would lead us to energy independence.

They want to give amnesty and social security (they have already tried to pass a bill to do just that) for 12,000,000 illegal immigrants. They will stop our efforts to secure our boarders, they are for open boarders and see nothing wrong with millions of people coming her illegally because they see them as potential voters for the liberals.

No more conservative “original intent” judges, only liberal judges who see the Constitution as a “living evolving” document will be appointed. They will continue to create laws to implement the social agenda liberals cannot get passed through the legislative process.

A push over turning our marriage laws through the courts in all 50 states, making homosexual marriage and polygamy legal. They claim it is about giving them the same rights married people enjoy but that is a lie.

Liberals will make the killing prenatal children even harder to stop. They have done their best to stop the outlawing of partial birth abortion which is an abhorrent procedure. They have voted against parental notification, I.E. if your under age daughter wants to have an abortion the don’t have to call you first.

Liberals will continue to try to rid our society of Christian influence, including any reference to God in our Pledge and on our currency. Groups like the ACLU have been attacking Christian values all over the country. There is no “separation of Church and State in the Constitution”. The first amendment states that “Congress shall make no law respecting and establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”‘..

A return to the “Fairness Doctrine” in broadcasting where opposing views must be given equal time. Every conservative talk show host will be forced to give a liberal equal time on every issue. The purpose of this rule will be to shut down conservative talk shows.

An increase in taxes to push new social programs. Charlie Rangel is the top-ranking Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee, which writes federal tax laws would become chairman of the Committee and has promised to roll back President Bush’s tax cuts and has pledged to increase taxes across the board.

Senate Search for Charlie Rangel

They will pass new “hate crimes” laws making it illegal to refer to homosexuality in a negative manner. I don’t believe in “hate” crimes, it is illegal to kill, injure or do anything violent to people. It shouldn’t matter what the reason behind the action is, is it any different to murder someone because of their skin color or they are being robbed or some other reason. What ever the reason the punishment should be the same.

Liberals will give terrorists from other countries who try to kill Americans the same rights American citizens enjoy under our constitution. Terrorist are illegal enemy combatants and are not afforded the same rights as military people under the Geneva Convention, yet the Democrats have fought to give them these rights and even the same rights US citizens do.

NRA-ILA Grassroots Alert Vol. 13, No. 38 09/22/06

PRO-GUN BILLS MAKE WAY TO HOUSE FLOOR!

The House of Representatives may act as early as next week on critical pro-Second Amendment reform bills. These bills need your support today:

H.R. 5092–the “Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) Modernization and Reform Act of 2006,” by Reps. Howard Coble (R-N.C.) and Bobby Scott (D-Va.) — will curb the agency’s efforts to revoke dealers’ licenses for minor paperwork errors, improve the appeals process for dealers, and, establish new guidelines for BATFE investigations. This bill was drafted in large part to address recent, blatant BATFE abuses at Richmond, Virginia gun shows highlighted in hearings before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. (See next story on Brady Center’s blatant misrepresentation of this bill.)

H.R. 5005–the “Firearms Corrections and Improvements Act,” by Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Tex.) — will protect gun owners’ privacy by creating a permanent version of the “Tiahrt Amendment,” preventing disclosure of gun owner records outside of legitimate criminal investigations. The bill also includes a ban on BATFE retrieving out-of-business dealers’ records by the gun owner’s name-making permanent an appropriations restriction that’s been in effect for the last 10 years. Among other reforms, H.R. 5005 will also permanently ban federal fees on instant background checks and roll back various restrictions on firearms industry activities.

With the legislative clock running out, this may be our last chance to pass these essential reforms before the November election–so please be sure to immediately contact your U.S. Representative at (202) 225-3121, and urge him or her to VOTE FOR H.R. 5092 and H.R. 5005 when they are brought to the House floor! Additional contact information can be found by visiting www.NRAILA.org, clicking the “Take Action” icon, and then clicking the “Write Your Representatives” icon.

Please be sure to contact your Representative TODAY, and urge your family, friends, and fellow firearm owners to do the same!

Thank you for your continued support as we work to make these legislative reforms the law of the land!

BRADY CENTER MISLEADS PUBLIC ON BATFE REFORM BILL

The Brady Center’s latest hatchet job attacks makes many false claims about firearm dealer license revocations, in order to attack H.R. 5092 and the reforms that bill would make.

The “study” is based on published court decisions that have upheld BATFE license revocations. This is misleading because it excludes all cases (about 90% of revocations) where dealers choose not to file a challenge in court-often because the dealer couldn’t afford the necessary attorneys’ fees.

The study also implies that dealers violate the law more often than they used to. To “prove” this, the Brady Center relies on studies from the Clinton administration, which targeted licensees in an effort to reduce the availability of firearms to law-abiding Americans. It’s not surprising that when BATFE politically broadened the definition of “violations,” it found more of them.

The report also harps on dealers who had guns “lost” or “unaccounted for.” These vague phrases don’t tell us whether the dealer had a gun stolen, made a paperwork mistake, or made criminal “off the book” sales. Obviously, under current law or under H.R. 5092, intentional sales without paperwork would be serious violations, for which a dealer could have his license revoked (and even be arrested and imprisoned).

70 MILLION MORE GUNS.38% LESS VIOLENT CRIME

Data released by the FBI on Monday showed that in 2005, the nation’s total violent crime rate was 38% lower than in 1991, when violent crime hit an all-time high. Rates of the individual categories of violent crime were also much lower in 2005 than in 1991. Murder was 43% lower, rape 25% lower, robbery 48% lower, and aggravated assault 33% lower. The FBI’s report came on the heels of a Bureau of Justice Statistics crime survey that found that violent crime was lower in 2005 than anytime in the survey’s 32-year history.

Defying the anti-gunners’ claim that more guns means more crime, from 1991-2005 the number of privately owned guns increased by more than 70 million.

The news media often characterize violent crime as a primarily gun-oriented problem, but the FBI’s report showed that only one in every four violent crimes in 2005 was committed with a gun. In 2005, as in previous years, most violent crimes were robberies and aggravated assaults, most of which were committed with knives or bare hands.

Recently, anti-gun politicians and activists have intensified their rhetoric over the “lack” of bans on handguns, so-called “assault weapons”, and .50-caliber rifles; gun registration, gun owner licensing, and mandatory background checks on sales of guns between friends and family members; and limits on the frequency of gun purchases, all of which they say are necessary to reduce the nation’s murder rate. But for the last seven years, the murder rate has been steady¾in the 5.5-5.7 per 100,000 population range¾at all times lower than anytime since the mid-1960s. In 2005, for example, the murder rate was 5.6.

Naturally, anti-gunners will downplay the downward trend in violent crime since 1991, and focus on the fact that the FBI’s report showed a 1% increase in total violent crime, and a 2% increase in murder in 2005, compared to 2004. But those changes are miniscule, compared to the huge decrease in crime over the last 14 years.

The FBI’s report once again confirmed that violent crime rates are lower in states with Right-to-Carry (RTC) laws. In 2005, RTC states had, on average, 22% lower total violent crime, 30% less murder, 46% lower robbery, and 12% lower aggravated assault rates, compared to the rest of the country.

As usual, Washington, D.C., which leads the nation in anti-gun laws, led the nation in murder, with a rate six times higher than the rest of the country. Neighboring Maryland, where gun control advocates have been particularly active recently, once again had the highest robbery rate among the states, but also tied for the unenviable distinction of “first place” in murder among the states. However, despite Maryland’s high crime counts, CeaseFire Maryland, the local Brady Campaign affiliate that recently released a paper demanding an “assault weapon” ban, was unable to point to any crimes in the state involving such a gun.

The FBI’s report must have displeased New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg (R). Despite the mayor’s recent posturing on the gun issue, and his self-laudatory comments about fighting crime, the Big Apple’s murder rate was more than double that of the rest of the state. Similarly, in Philadelphia, where anti-gun politicians are calling for a statewide one-gun-a-month law, the murder rate was more than seven times higher than the rest of Pennsylvania.

Adding to the reasons why voters should “Dump Doyle” in Wisconsin’s upcoming gubernatorial election, their state had the greatest total violent crime rate increase (15.1%) between 2004-2005. Murder was up 25.2%; robbery up 11.2%; and aggravated assault up 20.2%. Wisconsin is one of only two states that prohibits Right-to-Carry entirely, but in 2005, 11 of the 12 states that had the greatest decreases in total violent crime, and 12 of the 14 states with the greatest decreases in murder were Right-to-Carry states. The seven states with the lowest total violent crime rates in 2005, and 11 of the 12 states that had the lowest murder rates, were Right-to-Carry states.

Last, but not least, is good news from Florida, the state that during the last 20 years has been most often attacked by anti-gunners, for (among other reasons) setting the Right-to-Carry and “Castle Doctrine” movements in motion. In 2005, Florida recorded a murder rate 13% lower than the rate for the rest of the country (4.96 per 100,000, vs. 5.67 for the rest of the country). For the record, Florida’s 2005 murder rate was 58% lower than it was in 1986, the last year before the state’s landmark Right-to-Carry law took effect.

The People’s Right to Keep and Bear Arms

http://scottsworld.info/rkba.htm

The People’s Right to Keep and Bear Arms

You will be told that the second amendment is about militias, but it is not and that is an intentional lie. It was written to protect the right of the people to defend themselves and have an armed populous to defend the country from foreign and internal threats to our liberty, I.E. the Government trying to take away our Rights.

This amendment uses the word People I.E. you and I, the same as it does in every case that it is used in the Bill of Rights and Constitution, it means the common citizens. The founders were clear when they meant State I.E. Government and when they meant People. They did not give the right to the government at any level to regulate your right to self defense or to keep and bear arms, they in fact wrote that it “Shall not be infringed“.

It is no coincidence that the right to keep and bear arms comes right after the right to free speech. When we lose these rights and the others in the Bill of Rights will shortly follow, and we will be no longer a free people.

Without the right to bear arms to defend ourselves and our rights, we have no rights! Are we free people today? Our rights have been so infringed by government because we keep demanding more of government that it is debatable if we are free now. Read the Bill of Rights and Constitution for yourself and see how frequently it is violated and ignored by our government from the Federal Government on down to the local level. It is vital to the future freedom of this country and our posterity that we know our rights as protected by the Constitution and Bill of Rights and vote to defend them.

The answer to violence and crime is not to ban guns or other weapons. We have literally thousands of gun laws which largely are not enforced well, if at all. It is illegal to murder someone, do we need more laws specifying it is illegal to murder someone with a weapon as well? (I oppose hate crimes for the same reason.) In many locations in this county you can not have a gun in your home to defended yourself. Much less carry one in your car or on you as I do here in Arizona to defend against car jackers and other assailants. Is it any wonder that crime and murder are rampant in these areas? Such areas are easy pickings for the criminals who don’t obey the laws anyway, because they know their victims have been disarmed by the government for them.. In nearly every state it is illegal to shoot a burglar even in your own home unless you are threatened with harm or death and can not get away..

Someone breaking into to your home is not threat enough? It is mind boggling. You may or may not be prosecuted for shooting a burglar depending on the views of the prosecutor in your area. Then, thanks to lawyers, you might be sued by the burglar or his family for injuring him, pain and suffering, depriving him of his livelihood. You think I’m joking? They have done it and won several times!

The answer to crime is to punish criminals severely for crimes. I strongly support capital punishment, I do not believe we should intern any criminal for life at tax payer expense. If they are so bad we must lock them away for life to protect society from them, then they should be put to death. If they take a life or use a gun in the commission of a violent crime they should be put to death. The idiots who want to ban guns will say their efforts have reduced crime. Utter lies, crime is going down because more and more states are keeping criminals behind bars with truth in sentencing and three strikes laws. The more criminals behind bars, the less crimes they commit, how much more simple could it be? The majority of crimes are committed by repeat criminals, something like 60% of all crimes. Crime is also going down because more states are allowing (imaging that, allowing you to exercise your God given right to defend yourself..), citizens in good standing to pay a tax (I.E. license) so they can carry a concealed weapon to defend themselves.

It has been proven conclusively that the more lax the gun laws a locality has and the more citizens carrying weapons to defend themselves, the less violent crime there is. The inverse is true also, the more strict the gun laws the more violent crime and murders there are. This is because criminals are cowards and attack the easiest prey they can find. They most definitely don’t want to go after someone who can defend themselves and possibly hurt or kill them.

Accidents? Truth be told accidents with guns have been going down for decades. The reason why is education, yet the gun banning idiots claim gun education promotes gun violence. We teach children to be safe with matches, hot stoves, etc. Why do we not teach children how to be safe with guns? The NRA Eddie Eagle education program teaches very simple rules to children. If they find a gun they are not to touch it and to find an adult and tell them about it. It is frequently opposed by liberal fools because it has to do with guns and is taught by the NRA.. If we are to ban guns to “Save The Children” (a favorite refrain of reactionary, emotional, fools), should not we also ban cars, swimming pools, bicycles, dogs, etc., which each kill and maim far more children than guns do every year? Opps, I almost forgot there are some liberal fools out there trying to do just that too…

My interest in guns? I like to target shoot and I carry a pistol for self defense most of the time. I started carrying after a shoot out between two cars in the parking lot of the apartment complex I used to live in, in a reasonably nice neighborhood. A couple months later I was shot at in south Phoenix, likely by some gang members. They were following me on the highway I-10 and I pulled off on to surface streets around Thomas and 27th Ave to verify this, then tried to loose them on side streets. I am a very good driver and when I was so far ahead of them I started to loose them, they turned sideways at a T in the street and fired one shot which went through the rear window of the camper shell of the red lowered Toyota Pickup I had as my company vehicle at the time. This came from my boss’s son after his divorce and was popular with the gangs back then, it attracted way too much attention all the time. From there the bullet went though a box, a plastic tool box and passed between where the camper rests on the bed frame and the bottom of the camper, hitting the rear of the cab behind my right shoulder, stopping after leaving a big dent in the metal. The car was a white late 80’s Mustang with dark tinted windows so I never saw them and they were always behind me so no plate number. The police think it was a 9 mm handgun. Which was one of the reasons I bought a 40 Caliber Glock 23, also the police are carrying the same caliber which was a shortened version of the10 mm the FBI was carrying in the 80’s.

Several years ago, about 1 A.M. (I’m a night person) I left my apartment complex to mail some bills that needed to be off right away so they would go out at the 6 am pickup at the post office half a mile away. When I came back about ten minutes later the parking lot was filled with police, Fire Dept. and neighbors. In the short time I was gone, one of the neighbors had caught someone breaking into his truck and they murdered him by shooting him in the head when he confronted them unarmed. Unarmed = Victim.. I won’t be a victim, don’t be one yourself!

If we allow the liberals to keep passing stupid gun laws, some day you will be a criminal just because you own a shotgun, rifle or a handgun to protect your home, hunt with or target shoot. There are already liberal controlled cities (in America, the land of the Free and home of the Brave??) where if you have an unregistered gun you are a criminal just for possessing
it. Have no doubt many liberal idiots want only the police to have guns and have publicly said so, even then they don’t really trust the police with them either.. There is no question they want to take away your rights to arm and defend yourself and your family. They don’t Trust you! You Must not trust them! Say NO! to more gun laws! Be involved, write your congressmen and senators to tell them you are opposed to any bill that infringes on your right to bear arms.. Tell them you are opposed any federal crime bill, crime is a local issue, best dealt with at a local level. Elect people who will support your rights and do your best to remove from office those who won’t.
